Start with the job you need to do

Tactiq serves a meeting workflow as well as offering a YouTube transcript utility. EasyTranscriber offers a YouTube workflow with transcripts, summaries and developer access. The useful comparison is where you want to read, save or use the text—not which product wins an across-the-board feature checklist.

Where Tactiq fits

Live meeting notes and follow-up

On its AI meeting note-taker homepage, Tactiq describes live transcription for Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with speaker identification and no bot joining the call. It also describes AI meeting summaries, action items, custom questions and workflows that share meeting context to tools such as Slack and Notion. If your main task is capturing a team conversation and following up afterward, those meeting-specific capabilities are worth evaluating.

A YouTube text utility

Tactiq also offers a free YouTube Transcript Generator. Its page describes pasting a YouTube URL, viewing and copying the transcript, and downloading a .txt file without signing up. That is a straightforward option to consider when the text itself is what you need.

Summarizing a YouTube transcript in Tactiq

Tactiq's help centersays it “currently does not support direct transcription of YouTube videos on the platform.” Its documented route is to generate the transcript with the free tool, sign in, upload the .txt under My Meetings → Upload Transcript or Recording, and use AI tools such as Quick Prompts to summarize it.

Where EasyTranscriber fits

A video transcript with the summary included

Paste a YouTube link into the link field on this page to continue in the EasyTranscriber dashboard. The first AI summary is generated automatically and included in the video's credit cost. Read the overview, then use the full transcript to check the details. On the web, you can copy the text or download Markdown (.md) without an account. Signed-in users can choose .txt or .md under Account & Billing → Download format.

A new video costs 1 credit, or 2 credits if it is longer than 2 hours; the supported maximum is 4 hours. Cached videos cost 0 credits. Regenerating a summary costs 1 more credit when signed in. Summary output supports 65 languages, while transcript language follows the video's captions.

Read on YouTube in Chrome or Firefox

EasyTranscriber has live Chrome and Firefox extensions for reading transcripts and summaries alongside YouTube videos. The extension includes clickable transcript timestamps when caption timing is available. The web app displays transcript text; it does not provide the same clickable timestamp experience. The extension does not run on YouTube Shorts pages.

Use YouTube text in an app or AI assistant

EasyTranscriber also provides a REST API for transcripts and summaries, and an MCP server for supported AI assistants. These are routes into a YouTube research or development workflow when copying text manually is not how you want to work. API and MCP access require an account. Unlike the web workflow, a transcript API call does not include a summary: API and MCP summarization are separate operations costing 1 credit per summary.

Choose a workflow, not a blanket winner

  • For meeting capture and follow-up:evaluate Tactiq's live transcription, meeting summaries and team workflows.
  • For a YouTube text download:consider Tactiq's free transcript utility (and its upload-then-summarize workflow if you already use Tactiq), or EasyTranscriber if you want the summary generated straight from the link.
  • For EasyTranscriber's YouTube workflow: choose the web app, Chrome or Firefox extension, REST API or MCP according to where you need the text.

This is not an exhaustive inventory of either product. We do not treat a feature that is unmentioned on a Tactiq page as proof that Tactiq lacks it. Neither product's transcript or AI summary should replace checking important quotes against the original video.

Frequently asked questions

Is EasyTranscriber a replacement for Tactiq's meeting tool?
This comparison is about YouTube workflows, not replacing live meeting software. Tactiq describes live transcription, AI summaries and action items for meetings. EasyTranscriber lets you work with YouTube transcripts and summaries through the web app, browser extensions, REST API and MCP server.
Can I use Tactiq to get YouTube transcript text?
Yes. Tactiq's YouTube Transcript Generator page describes pasting a video URL, viewing and copying its transcript, and downloading a .txt file without signing up. Its product homepage also describes AI summaries for meetings. To summarize a YouTube transcript, Tactiq documents signing in, uploading the downloaded .txt under My Meetings → Upload Transcript or Recording, and using its AI tools such as Quick Prompts. See the linked Tactiq sources on this page, checked on November 7, 2026.
What is included with an EasyTranscriber video?
On the web and in the browser extensions, the transcript and first automatically generated AI summary are included in the video's credit cost. You can copy the text; anonymous web downloads use .md, while signed-in users can choose .txt or .md under Account & Billing → Download format. Regenerating a summary costs 1 more credit when signed in. API and MCP summaries are separate operations costing 1 credit each. Summaries support 65 output languages; they do not translate the original transcript.
Can I try EasyTranscriber without creating an account?
You can try 2 captioned videos without signup, sharing that allowance between the web app and extension. Videos without captions require sign-in for speech-to-text, and those transcripts do not include timestamps. Not every video is supported: private videos and videos longer than 4 hours are outside the supported workflow.
