Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, such as your email address when you create an account. We also collect usage data including YouTube video URLs you submit for transcription, transcription results, and standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited).

Anonymous users: If you use the Service without an account, we collect your IP address solely to manage the free trial usage limit. This data is not linked to any personal identity.

Browser Extension

Our Chrome browser extension collects and processes the following data:

• YouTube video URLs — collected only when you explicitly click the "Transcript" button on a YouTube video page. We do not collect your browsing history or monitor which videos you watch.
• API key — stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage). Your API key is only transmitted to easytranscriber.com over HTTPS when making transcription or summarization requests. It is never sent to any other party.
• Transcript and summary content — fetched from our API and displayed in the extension panel. This content is not stored locally beyond your active session.

The extension does not collect, access, or transmit any data from non-YouTube websites. It does not run in the background or collect data when you are not actively using it.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide transcription and AI summarization services
• To manage your account and process payments
• To cache transcription results for faster future retrieval
• To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the Service.

Data Retention

Transcription results are cached on our servers to improve performance for all users. Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting
• Stripe — payment processing (we do not store your payment card details)
• Deepgram — audio-to-text transcription for videos without existing captions
• OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google — AI summarization of transcripts
• Vercel — website and API hosting

These providers process data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function (e.g., transcript text is sent to AI providers for summarization).

International Data Transfers

EasyTranscriber is operated from Belgium. However, our third-party service providers (including Vercel, Supabase, Stripe, Deepgram, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google) may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we rely on the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or other approved transfer mechanisms to ensure adequate protection of your data in accordance with GDPR.

Data Security

All data transmitted between your browser, the extension, and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS). API keys are stored securely and transmitted only over encrypted connections. While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your authentication session. The browser extension does not use cookies. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences.

Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erasure — request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Restriction — request that we limit how we process your data
• Data portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Objection — object to processing of your data for specific purposes
• Withdraw consent — at any time, by uninstalling the extension or deleting your account
